News Wire: Outfit Discontinuations and Adjustments

I mean, we all knew this was coming sooner or later

In a surprise announcement by official Snowbreak accounts, multiple existing outfits would be removed from sale, with some also being modified.

Well I mean, it's a surprise in the sense that there wasn't any indication that it would be happening now. I'm pretty sure most people were expecting this to happen sooner or later. These changes are reportedly due to "factors beyond [their] control," though any specific reasons have not been stated.

Discontinuation of Paid Outfits

The following paid outfits and related accessories will be made available for purchase for one last time between 10:00AM on August 27, 2024 to 10:00AM on August 30, 2024 (UTC+8), before being indefinitely removed from sale:

  • Fritia - Hush: Nimble Hare
  • Tess - The Magician: Merry-in-Exile
  • Fenny - Coronet: Slopestyle Diva
  • Lyfe - Wild Hunt: Ice Dancer
  • Katya - Blue Bolt: Graceful Danseuse
  • Fritia - Hush: Symphony of Frenzy
  • Acacia - Kaguya: Allure of Lotus

    • Also includes the associated weapon skin: Sweet Decree
  • Cherno - Enigma: Apprentice Maid
  • Enya - Exuvia: Kiss Be the Remedy
    • Also includes the interactable scene: Tender Cure

Note that players who own these outfits will not be affected once the date passes, including players who purchase these outfits during the last-chance purchase period. Any related profile covers or profile icons will not be affected either. According to a Seasun source, there are no plans for further reruns, nor will these outfits be receiving redesigns for future rerelease either.

Discontinuation of Battlepass Outfits

The following battlepass outfits will specially be made available for direct purchase between 10:00AM on August 27, 2024 to 10:00AM on August 30, 2024 (UTC+8), before being indefinitely removed from availability:

  • Yao - Winter Solstice: Snowridge Sledding
  • Haru - Absconditus: Covert Zephyr

As well, the following outfits available on the rerun outfit selector from the current premium battlepass will have the following outfit options removed after August 30, 2024 (UTC+8):

  • Acacia - Kaguya: Dimensional Memory
  • Fenny - Coronet: Stinging Rose
  • Marian - Swift: High Roller
  • Yao - Winter Solstice: Snowridge Sledding
  • Haru - Absconditus: Covert Zephyr

Note that players who own these outfits will not be affected once the date passes, including players who purchase these outfits during the last-chance purchase period. Any related profile covers or profile icons will not be affected either. According to a Seasun source, there are no plans for further reruns, nor will these outfits be receiving redesigns for future rerelease either.

Appearance Adjustments

Katya - Blue Bolt

The appearance of Katya - Blue Bolt's default outfit and of her "Routine Outing" outfit will have their 2D splash arts and 3D models adjusted, taking effect after August 30, 2024 (UTC+8):

Players who already owned Katya - Blue Bolt before this date will receive a special outfit to be distributed by version 2.4:

Update: The criteria for eligibility to receive this outfit has been extended to all players who own Katya - Blue Bolt prior to the outfit's expected release in version 2.4. It is possible that there will be a Katya - Blue Bolt operative rerun in version 2.2 as it would line up with her rerun schedule, but this has not been confirmed.
Update 2: From communications with Seasun contacts, I've been told that there is a "high probability" that a Katya rerun banner will not occur within this time period.

Unfinalized design and subject to change

As well, the appearance of two outfits in the Choice Products Shop will have their 2D splash arts and 3D models adjusted as well, taking effect after August 30, 2024 (UTC+8):

Yao - Quiet Quitter: Enduring Valor

Fenny - Lionheart: Indomitable Charm

Players who have purchased either of these outfits before August 30, 2024 (UTC+8) will receive 5 Bright-Star Tickets per outfit as compensation.

Splash Art Adjustments

The following operatives and outfits will have their splash arts adjusted after August 30, 2024 (UTC+8):

Something tells me these aren't the finalized splash art adjustments
  • Haru - Absconditus (Default)
  • Tess - The Magician (Default)
  • Cherno - Enigma (Default)
  • Fenny - Lionheart: Delusional Starlet

Operative illustrations for the "Fast Track" event will be adjusted on the same date as well. This is a special assistance campaign for accounts under level 60.

Compensation

After the update on August 30, 2024 (UTC+8) where these changes will take place, all players will receive a commemorative profile icon and a special "Fenny - Lion Dance" chat sticker pack. As well, all players who have purchased any paid or battlepass outfits before the update will also receive a special outfit for Fritia - Little Sunshine, named "Leafy Secret".

Developer Insights

The official announcement noted that the gift of the Fritia outfit was meant to demonstrate their "steadfast determination in continuing to serve our faithful Adjutants," adding that they would "never forget who [they] are, nor lose sight of [their] mission to provide the content you all desire."

Snowbreak producers MuMu and ChongChong both posted identical statements on their personal BiliBili accounts regarding the incident as well. It was noted that the Fritia outfit is "meant to represent that we know what players like, and will continue to provide content that players want," while also providing a preview of an upcoming outfit:

Preliminary sketch

The timeframe of which the changes had to be made was also mentioned to be "very urgent," and they asked for players to "look at [the situation] rationally," calling on the community to "work together as a community to protect the game that we all love." The statement goes onto emphasize that measures had been taken to "minimize the impact on the player experience," and that "this incident will not shake our original intention." MuMu in particular asked players to not worry about future outfits and to stay tuned for content in future updates.

CN fan reception has been overall positive and understanding, with players showing faith in the developers' commitment to their vision and their handling of the incident.

I sent some questions to multiple of my Seasun contacts, but did not receive a response by the time of writing.
