If you’ve read the basic team building guide, you probably have a pretty solid understanding of which operatives do what and how to put them together to make a team. However, sometimes you need some more specialized information on how to get certain functionality or handle a specific boss fight. As such, this guide is more of a choose-your-own-adventure reference handbook, with different sections going in-depth on certain operative archetypes or who you might want to bring against specific bosses.

DPS Operatives
- Low Endurance operatives have a limited period of time to deal damage before they run out of resources, typically only being able to perform a single damage rotation.
- Short Range operatives have to be close to enemies to deal maximum damage.
- Ultimate-Reliant operatives require access to their ultimate skill in order to deal maximum damage.
Ballistic DPS
Ballistic damage operatives deal double damage to shields and usually rely on hitting weak spots to critically hit and deal maximum damage.

Skill DPS
Skill damage operatives are typically not reliant on hitting weak spots, but can still benefit from doing so.

Hybrid DPS
These operatives come in two varieties:
- Mixed damage: the operative deals both ballistic and skill damage, but in separate instances.
- Dual mode: the damage the operative deals is treated as both ballistic and skill damage.

Sub-DPS
Sub-DPS operatives are only used to skip past invulnerability triggers, and thus this role is limited to operatives that can quickly deal large amounts of burst damage in a single hit.
Support Operatives
- Low Endurance operatives have a limited period of time to be effective before they run out of resources, typically only being able to perform a single skill rotation.

CC Support
Being able to apply control effects to bosses can make fights easier due to it allowing you to cancel certain attacks and open up DPS windows. As well, certain bosses have HP triggers that can be cancelled with a well-timed control effect. However for players with adequate damage, control effects are usually a secondary priority unless it is needed specifically for cancelling a trigger.
- Control effect is applied via support skill unless otherwise indicated.
- Operatives use the Navigator Squad logistics set unless otherwise indicated.

Elemental Resistance Shred
These operatives are able to apply resistance reduction in a certain element to enemies. Resistance reduction is applied via support skill. Operatives use the Twilight Squad logistics set to apply the resistance reduction unless otherwise indicated.

Shielded
All ballistic operatives are strong against shielded enemies due to ballistic damage dealing double damage to shields. The following hybrid operatives also deal significant amounts of ballistic damage, or have their damage output treated as ballistic to also gain this advantage:

No Weak Spot
Skill damage operatives are generally more effective against bosses with no weak spot, as they are not as reliant on landing critical hits to deal damage. However, some ballistic or hybrid operatives are not reliant on landing critical hits, or are able to land guaranteed critical hits to bypass the lack of a weak spot:
